The Semi-Official Corner BS Thread
[QUOTE=Chazmo,Jul 24 2005, 10:19 AM] I've been putting together this letter, and I've been mulling over whether or not I should send it to the editor of our local paper. Would you?

Dear Neighbors,
I have found West Boylston's Finest to be respectful and helpful over the years. Lately, however, I perceive that our police are abusing their authority with the use of speed traps and excessive patrolling on our town's streets. This weekend, I couldn't leave my house without seeing people pulled over -- not for dangerous driving but, sadly, just getting picked off. I feel compelled to speak out, as I expect many of you would agree with me and we should not remain silent.
I feel that the advent of this departmental speed trap policy is not in our town's best interest. Primarily, my concern is that we must not chase away our local business customers who can be seriously put off by this. For another thing, town government has enough financial strain just maintaining the small infrastructure we need to survive. I do not want my limited tax money spent on this kind of patrol detail. And, given the antiquated speed limits, tickets are not commensurate with the offense and are a huge burden on the modern driver (particularly younger folks, who seem to be in the police
