On this day 12/18 (not sure what year) Wayne Gretzky scored his 100th point.

For perspective, the current leading scorer in the NHL has 40 today!

It would most likely refer to his 1985-1986 season with Edmonton when he amassed 52-163-215.

By way of comparison, though, Philadelphia's stingy 85-86 defense gave up 241 goals - 2.93 GAA, whereas last years stingier Flyers team gave up just 166 - 2.02 GAA. More telling might be the worst defense though - Atlanta gave up 284 goals last year, which would have been 4th best in 85-86, when the Detroit Red Wings rotated 5 goalies who gave up 415 goals.

Did any of you catch the Avs/Lightning game on ESPN2 tonight? Easily one of the best games I've seen this season. Lots of speed, lots of good checks, some great goals, and my man Milan "HedgeDuck" Hejduk getting the OT winner on a shootout. Good stuff!

Alternatively, anyone see the Bruins/Rangers 'old time hockey' fest? Old time jerseys, lots of checking, lots of goals, and a good brawl in the 2nd, with soon-to-be-vegatable Eric Lindros duking it out with Joe Thornton (who left with a nice shiner after Lindros got a good shot in as Thornton was falling down). Couple game misconducts, too. Other half of a home-and-home is tomorrow - should be some energy!

I'm sure the fan who caught it appreciated the free $130 stick... although they probably confiscated it.

Probably....it would have been worth far more as a souvenier than a broken hockey stick!

Look that up and see if they got to keep it Westside!

The fan who retrieved the shaft of Sundin's stick was given a complete stick in exchange, one autographed by the team.

Apparently, the fan sold Sundin's stick for $600 to two young men at the end of the game.
