The bullshit delay of game penalty broke them. They just quit. I don't blame them because it's the worst rule in the history of sports and they've been screwed by it so many times.

 

So Crybaby Crosby got hurt last night. I looked at the replay, and it does not look intentional to me. I mean, if your going to take a guy out, you don't orchestrate his falling into the play. I agree with the penalty call, however I don't think it warranted a 5 minute.

 

I'm not sure if the NHL follows this guidance, but at most levels of hockey, hit to the head + injury = 5 + game.

I thought it was more the knee/ankle that buckled under him than the hit to the head that kept him down. Maybe both? I don't really have issues with 5 + game for that, as long as nothing is added supplementary.


And just as an example of guys getting 5 + game for bullshit calls, this hit was given a 5 + game despite the defenseman turning his back to the player just before the hit. 2 minute boarding penalty, sure. But Scuderi turns his back rather than protect himself, and the zebra hands the game to the Kings.

 

Apparently it was a concussion. I think that's 4 or 5 for him? Not good.

 

Yep, he is prone to getting his bell rung. I wanted to lose or win this series to them with SC on the ice. If we do win this series, all Pittsburgh fans will say is it was because SC wasn't there. And Pittsburgh fans are already annoying enough.

The good thing (relatively) is that assuming the Caps win, they'll have to dispatch the Rangers/Sens winner (in 4), and then face off against (probably) the Preds or Ducks, both very good teams of very different styles. So at the end the d-bag Pens fans will say "you only won because Syd was hurt" but everyone else will also realize they had to beat 3 other teams and win 16 games. It's not like there's an asterisk involved.
