College hockey is weird. It's not that the players are drastically slower, it's that college hockey rules are basically where the NHL was about 20 years ago. They allow a lot of hooking, holding, and other stick work that really impedes play, which is why so many goalies have gaudy stats and so few skaters do. There is also no fighting, so there are a lot of rats.
