I'm getting ready to tell you this nightmare of a story

Last night we noticed our favorite fish was getting picked at (a Shark Catfish, he is OVER 3 year old, has grown HUGE in this tank!) He is so cool, lets Debs pet him, comes to the top to be hand fed (this is A CATFISH PEOPLE, they dont come to the top!!) Anyway he was getting picked at by a mean school of Tiger Barbs, well mind you the night before he was fine...Jen was over and even commented on how he was getting BIGGER!
Well the whole tank is rock-scaped...which makes it impossible to get any fish out with a net...it is a deep tank. So we decided to take all the rocks out to save our Shark Cat..... So we go to pull all the crap off the hood (decorations, etc) and we have a large glass Galileo Thermometer on top of the fish tank hood (see pic if you dont know what it is) I grab the neck of it and the base doesn't move....the glass base somehow got fused to the top of the tank...I pull and all the water (well which wasn't really water) goes crashing down INTO THE TANK!!!, and all over Debs computer and electrical outlet!
Within seconds there is a rainbow oil slick inside the tank
.....4 hours later...many shop vac, fill, scrub, salt, fill, etc later....the tank is now somewhat clean. All of the fish (except one) died.....including the Shark cat we really were intent on saving. Interestingly enough the one fish that survived is my oldest fish! It is a Spotted Pim Catfish, he is over 4 years old. HE better be alive when I get home tonight!Deb swears this house is cursed......EVERY Little minor project turns into stuff like this...it really is unbelievable. She was a trooper though...we got through it and didnt kill each other!
ok sorry so long, I needed to vent!
