Semi-Official "I'm" Thread - LIV

The competition is really though in Portland and Seattle to be accepted into nursing school; you need to have a 3.96 average GPA and build up a resume showing volunteer/work experience in the medical field. I've been told by nursing friends that other states are less competitive
I think I can pull off the 4.00 GPA as I maintained one for a couple years, but need to retake some classes as my grades suffered a hair (B's) while I was caring for my Dad. My goal is to finish up my required pre-reqs within a year and hopefully land a job (any job!) in the medical field to fill that requirement on my resume (I am super excited to get my foot in the door and learn!).
I'm saying that sucks. Any benefit to going to school in Cali vs another state?

I'm finding that nearly all of the schools that I have looked at in Cali have this resident only rule for nursing
Either you have to be a resident, or complete 90% of your pre-reqs in Cali

There isn't really much keeping me in Portland
I'm going to try to remember to connect you with a friend of mine who is a nurse in San Fran. He's in management now, but may have some helpful information.
