I'm fortunate to have a decent pension from 2 previous jobs, but a few years ago the employer I moved to had a pension that didn't kick in until you'd been there TWO years. And this job was part of a huge union.

I'm not really worried about having enough money at retirement...But I'd also rather enjoy life as much as I can now - you just never know when your time is up.

I'm wondering if your benefits don't start immediately?

I'm generally of the same mind, but I've also seen a lot of people get to "retirement" age and have to keep working since they have no money. It's a balancing act. I don't want to work now, much less when I'm 70, but I also look at my family's health history and doubt I'll make it to 70.

I'm paranoid about how much I'll have when I retire. I also don't want to work till I'm 65 either.

I'm grateful for a good start to a pension from 2 previous jobs as well as a decent plan with my current employer. Regardless of how long I live, I'm the type that needs some structure/expectations, so even if I don't need to work into my retirement chances are I will part time so I don't go batty.
