Semi-Official "I'm" Thread - LV
I'm adding annoyances with my car not starting (again), needing another TCT (I know, I know... I'll get one from Billman this time), needing new tires, and needing a new top... a lot of costs I don't really want to dump into an old car.
I'm amending the above that since it doesn't make sense to rent a house I'm never in, I'm going to be downsizing into something that won't have a real garage, or nearly as much space as I've sprawled into in the last year. So half the furniture I bought < 2 years ago will get sold/given away.
I'm adding that I'm being kicked out of my house because the owner's wife died and he wants to sell it. This presents a dilemma of signing another lease which means I'm financially tied to CA until next August, which is about 15 months longer than I want to be here.
I'm noting my lease isn't up until May, and you're correct in that he can't legally kick me out. The terms of my moving out are very flexible and favorable to me - basically whenever I move out I stop paying rent. We agreed on a soft target of Sept 30 with the option to extend it until escrow, which likely wouldn't be until October or later.
But I also want to move out and cut my rent payment, since I'm spending a lot of money flying every weekend, and my house sits empty about 70% of the time (I basically sleep and have dinner there). I'm looking at one place that's about $650/mo cheaper than the current, which would free up a lot of dinero. That place is also in a better location (an actual city instead of a suburban shithole that I despise). I'm probably going to be here for at least 6 months longer, so I'd rather not hate every second I'm here.
