I'm pretty sure there was a scheduled job that runs at night that automatically locks threads with over 2000 posts. It's true the forum software doesn't automatically lock threads as they hit 2000 posts though.

I'm telling you they were shut down by a batch script, which is why they seldom ever stopped at exactly 2000 posts. Very few were shut down by mods manually.
