i'm welcoming shareall to the missing appendix club

How long did it take you to heal? For a 'routine' operation, this sure is a major PITA.

My appendix ruptured when I was 10. Unfortunately it was located about an inch to the right of my navel so the doctor didn't consider appendicitis to be the cause of my illness.
After two weeks he decided to admit me to the hospital for testing. As there were no imaging machines other than xray at the time they decided to do exploratory sugery and found the burst appendix just below where they made the incision.
Somehow all the gangrenous tissue stayed confined where the appendix was. I got to spend a total of 8 weeks in the hospital (the first 2 with a tube draining liquid death from my abdomen) then another month before I was allowed to return to school.
There - feel better now?
I'm sharing another story.
ran into this guy i knew from high school, apparently he had gotten appendicitis (didn't know it). he didn't have health insurance, so he just was dealing with the pain ... for well over a *month*. he finally got a job that had insurance... went to the hospital... it had burst by this point of course and was spreading infection all over inside his chest. he spent 3 months in the hospital recovering and lost something like 100+lbs. i didn't even recognize him. he was lucky he lived.

i'm saying my surgery was at around midnight on a friday, at 6 in the morning i was awake and in a lot of pain.. by lunch i was ready to get out of the hospital but i had to wait for the doc to check me out. lets just say i was feeling good enough for .. physical activity.. with the ladyfriend that evening... and i was back in class monday mornin without issue. i didn't even take any pain meds.
