i'm thinking you should find out what major maint. items have to be done at 150/200k miles and whether or not they've been done already, then look into the costs associated with such items.. maybe find out how long original motors tend to last + cost of replacing one...
I'm thinking that's very true - It's just so hard to find one of these, and when I do find one they have high miles
Before I buy I'll have my mechanic look it over good

I'm noting that highway miles cause much less wear than 'daily driving' short commutes, so if this car was owned by .. say... someone who traveled very long distances for work... the miles wouldn't scare me as much.

However, given the car you are looking at, they're all going to be higher than desirable mileage...



He has a LONG commute, he lives in Vancouver, WA and drives down to Salem, OR for work. 

But I do like most of the miles were highway miles 
I talked him down $500 when emailing him
