I'm informing you that the dishwasher is hardwired into the house electrical and the line goes through the floor to a junction box under the kitchen. Somewhere in that line there is a short that I have to trace. The wire's only about 10 feet long, so I'm just going to replace the whole run and see if that solves the problem...

I'm reporting that both the master bedroom light and the dishwasher are working.

Seems that the dishwasher had a wiring problem at the junction box. When I was pushing the wires back in the box, the neutral evidently snapped off and was shorting out...

All is well, now. I just ran a test rinse cycle and there are no leaks and it is nice and quiet. Now we just need to get rid of the commercial refrigerator which generates as much noise as a wind tunnel!
