MOUNT ST. HELENS, Wash. -- Two earthquakes -- magnitudes 2.5 and 3.3 -- hit Mount St. Helens this morning in what were the latest in a number of quakes on the volcano.
The 3.3 quake happened Monday at 10:35 a.m. and the FOX 12 newsroom received reports of people who felt the earthquake in Vancouver, Washougal, Woodland, Ridgefield, Amboy and Longview, as well as Columbia City in Oregon.
The epicenter of the quake was 48 miles northeast of Vancouver.
A little more than two minutes later, the magnitude 2.5 earthquake occurred in the same area.
As of Friday, the background seismicity of Mount St. Helens remained at a normal level, according to Cascades Volcano Observatory.
Two weeks ago, there were five earthquakes in one day, but none was stronger than a 1.8 quake.
