Even if it's hard, I think pretty much everyone appreciates when foreign visitors at least attempt to use the native language. Even if you can't get your point across, people respect that you tried and tend to treat you better, which in turn makes the trip better.

which means I need to get to work on my German. I dont even know where to start when it comes to Polish. Im just hoping my last name is enough to get me through.

I used to love watching House Hunters International - not only was it cool to see what housing was like in other countries, but also to see what your money could get you comparatively.
