I don't have to play Sleigh Ride this year, but I still hate the holidays.

about no Sleigh Ride.

Historically, the holidays have been highly stressful for no real reason. Why does everyone all of a sudden want to get together? Why do I need to spend inordinate amounts of money on people? Why do I need to travel hundreds of kms and max out my social schedule? This year I've put my foot down in terms of taking care of me. Life has been highly stressful over the past while and I refuse to let the season add to it. It's gonna be the best holiday season EVER.

But, that's the kicker, I was almost able to do that this year, but it looks like I may be here working. . . because I'm local, and won't be going anywhere.

Actually I will be working a LOT on break. Need to make up all the hours (almost 50 ) I got behind on after the funeral.

I assume you get time off at Christmas?

Technically I have one class this week, but 4 papers due by the 20th, which really translates to the 18th, since I'll be away that weekend. Unstructured weeks until January 11th FTW.
Yep, I get Friday the 25th off. I'm not going home for Christmas again this year just hanging local.

Especially awesome for me when I keep getting a paycheque, but haven't worked the hours.

Holiday travel is highly overrated IMO...unless you're going somewhere warm.
