So I bartend at my job right....
...even though its illegal because I am 17, but the situation is really weird and I make due - but the point is this - what kind of wine do you guys like? Merlot, white, red, zin, ect.
I HATE those dry wines, can someone tell me why people drink em'?
Oh, and Windex (2 ounces vodka, 1/2 ounce triple sec, 1/2 ounce of curaco) is favorite drink

The more you drink wine, the more your taste changes in my opinion. I didn't like Merlots for a long time when I first started drinking wine. They still aren't my favority, but there are some out there that I LOVE. For the most part cabernets are easier to drink and most people that aren't into rich dry wines will like California Reds and Whites. As far as those few merlots I love, Rodney Strong and Rabbit Ridge are 2 of my favorites. I have also gotten into a couple of Whites that I drink frequently, my favorite being Chateau St. Michelle's Sauvangon Blanc.
As others have said though, depending on the meal people are getting and how they plan to drink it, you should recommend different things. I usually get a white with appetisers and a red for most of meals, unless I'm eating white meat. There are certain reds that are better for drinking with meals because they aren't going to overpower your meal, and others that are good with bread, cheese, or just by itself. Pick the brains of the bartenders, they are usually the most experienced people in the resteraunt and most resteraunts will send their senior waiters and bartenders to tastings and such.
Good luck and have fun trying all of them ;-)
