BTW, George, here's another story you may like. Just happened a few minutes ago.
I went to meet my mom at her work, because we were going to go eat out and do some grocery shopping. It was pointless for her to drive home then drive back to the stores which were right next to her work. Anyway, we take my car, grab some burgers at Fuddruckers, then get some groceries at the Super Wal-Mart.
We go back to her work so she can pick up her van. (I'm in the Camaro.) So we're just putting along on the way home, until we get to a red light and I pull alongside her. I've yet to race the Camaro against her van.
So I put the clutch in, blip it a few times, and my mom just looks at me and shakes her head with a small little grin. "Damn, she's going for it," I tell my little brother. She knows not to launch it from a standstill, so we roll to about 35mph real slow.
There was a Mustang behind me but I didn't pay attention to him.
So at about 35mph I blip it again. She guns it, spinning the tires until at least 50mph. She had about 1/2sec head start on me; I only managed to chirp the tires.
By the time I was at 50mph, she was 1 car length ahead of me. When I hit 65mph, she was at least 2 car lengths ahead, and by the time I killed it at 80mph, she was about 3 car lengths ahead.

She slows down to wait for me, and I tell her jokingly, "I wasn't even trying!"
She gnus it again but only stays in it for a few seconds. Anyway, I slow down, pull in behind her to follow her the rest of the way home.

I hadn't noticed, but the Mustang must've been gettin on it also, because as soon as I slowed down the first time, I saw the Mustang in my side-view mirrors. It had fog lights, so I was thinking it might've been an '03 Cobra.
It was.
He follows us onto 2920 (a big 4-lane road posted 55mph). He must've known the van beat my muscle car, because he passed us both, then paced my mom in the van.
"This is awesome," I thought to myself.
It seemed like forever, but it was probably only about 10sec, that the Cobra was pacing my mom at about 50mph. Finally, in a fury of exhaust smoke and engine roar, she guns it. It looked like the Class 3 receiver almost hit the ground when the van leaned backward from the acceleration.

As soon as my mom goes, the Cobra and I gun it. I was almost at the top of 2nd, so I had to make a quick shift. I nailed it and was accelerating hard, but those two pairs of taillights just kept pulling away more and more.
It was dark out, and I have some bad night blindness, so I couldn't see who was out front. My mom hit the brakes first, though...

After my mom and I both do a decent burnout at the red light, the Cobra accelerates past, tapping the horn politely a few times. The passenger also waved out the window.
We finally pull into the driveway. We shut off the engines, but the van's fan is whirring crazily.
As soon as I get out, I ask her, "Well, did you beat that Mustang?"
"What are you talking about?" she tells me, except in a different language.
"Please, you totally raced me. And you totally raced that Cobra. So did you beat it or not? You were too far ahead, I couldn't tell"
She says something in Tagalog, and I just tell her, "Huh? In English!"
Translation: "No, he passed me. But not by much."

"How fast were you going?"
"I don't know. It was stuck at 105mph again."
"Well, what rpm?"
"I couldn't tell." (The left half of the gauge cluster doesn't light up anymore.

Yup yup. I've just ordered parts for it today, so hopefully it won't self-destruct on me like with the Bonneville.

I bought some Dynatech 2-1/4 primaries with a 3-1/2" collector. I'm going to have to go to Ripley's to have them fab me a custom 3-1/2" to 3" collector adapter, to fit my current exhaust. I also ordered a Holley 650 Dominator, some GMPP aluminum heads (pricey bitches they are), and an Edelbrock lumpy cam and aluminum intake manifold. I also picked up a K&N air filter at AutoZone - with the air filter alone I can already tell a difference!
I don't know if I'm going to tear down the bottom end though. It is an original block, so I'll most likely have to hone the cylinders.
If I do, I may end up going with a 383 stroker.
