The Station Fire in LA has turned horrific.
The fire has turned horrendous. It now stretches from Tujunga to Altadena -- 15 miles. We've lived here since 1981 and it's far and away the worst I've ever seen. The sun is a dull red. 10,000 homes have been evacuated and many more are threatened, including many above us in La Crescenta. The fire has crested the mountains and beyond -- 35,000 acres burned and 0 percent containment. The flames at night are horrendous. The air is like being inside an incinerator, just horrible. Everybody is hunkered down, no traffic, no sign of life. We're OK unless an airborne ember ignites the Verdugos, then all bets are off.

That's so scary. A few months back there was a fire in my girlfriend's high rise apartment building. The fire department told her she had 15 minutes to decide what to take from the apartment and her partner was out of town at the time. I can't imagine having to make that kind of decision.
