The Story of Onestone
Once upon a time there lived a Navajo brave named Onestone. He lived on the reservation just outside Tuba City, AZ. He had only one testicle, hence the name Onestone. Over time, he grew to hate that name and all the ridicle it caused to be heaped on him. One day, he announced that he no longer wished to be called Onestone and henceforth would kill anyone that called him that name. Shortly thereafter, a Navajo maiden named Little Bird forgot and said "Hi, Onestone." Enraged, he dragged her into the forest and
ed her all day, all night, and all the next day. Poor Little Bird died of exhaustion. After that, everyone in the tribe pretty well figured out not to call him Onestone. Years later, a Navajo maiden named Yellow Bird (a cousin of Little Bird), returned to the tribe after a long absence. She knew nothing of this and, of course, said "Hi, Onestone." Enraged, he dragged her into the forest and
ed her all day, all night, and all the next day. However, Yellow bird did not die.
Moral of the story: You cannot kill two birds with Onestone.
