Sweepstake - will the UK's airforce outlast Saddam's at this rate?
Although we Brits have more planes flying at the moment, how long before we don't? Being downed by Patriot missiles on return to base is not too clever. Heads should be rolling for that one.
Does the US still see Iraq as a quick walk-over (can they afford to be gung-ho and trigger-happy as now) or is it going to take years? A combined Vietnam and Stalingrad seems on the cards to me, by the early signs.

As I recall, NOBODY in power has said it would be a 'walk-over'. In fact, they have been preaching preparedness for a long war with the potential for a somewhat significant loss of life (compared to the first Gulf War). It was known from the begining that this would be more of a ground war than an air war, and a good portion of the ground war would be fought in the cities, not in the deserts.
God Bless the men and women (yours, and ours...and theirs for that matter) that have and our going to sacrifice their lives in the name of this conflict.

My best friend is about to be shipped over there. He called me from Colorado where they are training and said the majority of the training is for urban assault. He's very excited and looking forward to doing his part.
Support the troops over there fighting! They need to know we're behind them.
