Talk about fast trucks!!!!!
My friend, Gale Banks, owns Gale Banks Engineering in Azusa and Irwindale. They make performance equipment for RVs and semis. He also builds all manner of racecars. He built a Chevy truck that, in the spring, set a land speed record of 222 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. He gave me a "The Fastest Truck in the World" T shirt with a picture of it today. He's a really cool dude. he once gave me his hospitality suite at Irwindale for the night for "Athanor Night at the Races."
Yeah, he's into a lot of interesting stuff. Awhile back, he took me on a tour of his plants. I saw this bright red Firebird with a full roll cage. Gale says "Oh, yeah, I did 284 mph at Bonneville in that car. I think it's still a record for its class."

I'm gonna build a Bonneville Bonneville - drop a 502 in my Pontiac, slap on a pair of blowers, 400 shot of NOS and you're good to go...
But as for fast trucks, one of the regulars at Lake Conroe has a 40-something-foot Scarab with (2) Lamborghini V10s, tuned to about 650hp each. He calls it Screws Loose II... (And yet, he still has a hard time pulling away from our 22-foot single-engine boat
)
Anyway, he pulls his boat (which rides on a 4-axle trailer) with a heavily modified Lightning. I believe aluminum heads, extra boost, and some other junk. It has the stock T45 gearbox, so it's nothing short of amazing that it doesn't implode when pulling that bigass boat.
Without the trailer, he says it's good for an "honest 160mph."
Pretty fast, if you ask me...
