yes.... you have to put "o" so you pronounce it "요"

correct, you're a natural. vowels can't stand on their own so they need the silent cons.

now if it's put after a vowel, it makes an "ng" sound. so

용 = yo---ong

겅 = gung ("gung-ho")

hmm... I just looked at an alphabet a few mins ago... and it shows one character for "g" and another for "k"

and now "yuh"
