이 is used when there is 받침
Ex: 이것은 (손)이 아닙니다.

가 is used when there is no 받침
Ex: 이것은 (소)가 아닙니다.
What is 받침 (bat chim)?

batchim is the term for the 2nd consonant, so the top word "sohn" has a batchim and the bottom word is just "so"

Oh ok! the "egg" part sounds like the English word "egg" (ayg)...

so chegg sounds like chaeg or chayg... right?
