How does one "win" ? If you get a refund, it just means you paid too much throughout the year and uncle sam generated interest on your money instead of you.

Ideally, you'd owe $0 at the end of the year.

I won and lost. My federal was fine....I got a refund...nothing huge...but not like...ten bucks. But then I have to sit through dealing with filing in both Maryland and Virginia and the assorted malarky. With them I basically break even....but it's still annoying

I try to either pay less than $100 or get a refund of $100 or so.
