BBC reports he is running a significant fever today, and can no longer speak, as he drifts towards an unconcious state. Vatican officials insist he is still responsive (how I don't know).

It seems like he fought to the end and chose to pass away in his apartments near his pilgrims, rather than in a hospital.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Conclave.
