Default A Thanksgiving Prayer

This is a thanksgiving prayer I found in the new york times:
[QUOTE]
Since the first Thanksgiving Day long ago there have been many times when it was easy to despair of the American experiment in human living.

we have a tradition in our family to read from an old prayerbook that my great-grandfather purchased from alexandria VA in 1919, from the church George Washington prayed at. In the box in which we keep the prayerbook, we also keep the various prayers the dinner leader writes each year, and this NYT article has been kept in there since 1941.

That's really cool! I like the idea of a meaningful thanksgiving tradition.

Our family tradition is much more crass - we eat till we explode then Nancy cleans up the mess.

My great grandfather wrote a note to go with the book...he tells the story better than I just did Appearantly he was a well to-do guy, in the book Who's Who in American History.
