There I was, there I was...
What a strange winter it's been...
After Bootscon, things started downhill. Carly, Lisa's daughter, moved out, and we got a new roommate (friend of Lisa's) who also has a horse. That was fine, (though I had to move Loraine in, and our guest bedroom stuff into storage) no biggie, but then Carly got sick, had to spend 2 weeks in the hospital at UCSF.
After she got out, she (and her no-good boyfriend) moved back in. So everything in our office went into the garage, as the storage unit was full. The we kicked him out, and a female friend of Carly's moved in, too.
All this time, I was working as the Hose Doctor, making a base plus comission, which turned out to be non-existant, as the market for mobile hose repair isn't as big as it was portrayed to me.
Finally, the Rolex 24 rolled around, had a good time in FL, but the day I came back, my boss said, "I can't afford to pay you any more, so unless you want to buy the business from me, you're out of a job." Thanks, dude. I managed to con him into paying me for another month while I tried to work out the financials, but in reality I was out job-hunting.
Which was successful. I'm now the Chief Engineer/Director of New Product Development for Zap! Automotive, Inc. ( www.zapworld.com ). Not the money I wanted, but not terrible, either. Yet the saga continued...
The girls moved out (again, with my help, up the fucking flight of stairs). 3 weeks after I got my job, Lisa lost hers. An hour after she got fired, her Granddad had a heart attack. He's fine, but spent a week in the hospital and got a pacemaker installed. And then Carly spent another week in the hospital. Good thing Lisa was unemployed so she could spend time playing nurse!
So here I am, faking work as I always do, playing crash-test-dummy (yes, I wrecked one of the prototype ATV's) and drinking lots of Newcastle
Lisa's collecting unemployment for now; we may start a horse boarding facility or some such business as she's burned out from the corporate marketing
Thanks, VMom, from Lisa for the birthday card

Thank you. Really, things have turned the
for us all - Granddad is doing well, Carly is healthier, I'm making almost as much as I was at Nissin...
No big parties scheduled at the Rancho in the immediate future, but we'll have some sort of 'con this summer

Now that the girls are out, we've set up a guest room again, so you're welcome anytime. You've got a pm with #'s
However, I may just stay at the Motel 6 to prove my toughness.

Hang in there dude.
