I might chime in here ...

OINK OINK

that

I believe a large part of the reason people are morons is because they were raised that way. I feel like we're all much more enlightened than when I was a kid - but then I see many of my son's peers acting in ways that I thought were dead years ago. Then I realized, it's their parents who are propogating crazy behavior - principles - views of the world. Or, by ignoring or abusing their kids, causing them to be self-destructive, etc.

:hops quickly back up on box, just for a moment:

Of course, there are morons that just happen in spite of an excellent upbringing. I have no comment there.

I have to agree with Kathy guys. Most of us (I am guessing here) probably had a reasonable upbringing, with parents that taught us right and wrong and how to act in society.

There are others, who didn't have the guidance, or had poor guidance that appear to us to be idiots. I don't think we should condemn them for the failings of their parents or guardians.

There are others that either had a "good" upbringing that went off the rails somewhere, and some that are just plain stoopid and didn't respond to their upbringing ..... these are the ones that need to be used for target practice by the gun totting masses ......
(I guess that might be a little harsh, but I think you get my drift )

I agree with you James and Kathy, but it's a downward spiral that keeps getting worse. Sometimes for the better, bad things have to happen. No one ever said Mother Nature was nice. In every other species it's called the survival of the fittest.

I feel sorry for those people brought up in lousey environments, but do we protect them to the point that pretty soon no one can use a fork any more cause it's sharp. People are thinking creatures, they have the ability to change things about themselves and environments which they live in, if they are willing to try. (Being one of the fittest in other words.)

You also have a very valid point there Luke .....

I guess the thing that sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom (in our own minds anyway) is morality ..... and it is this that stops us accepting nature's way of selecting the fittest and doing away with the weak .......

That, though, is a whole new subject which I don't want to get into !!!!
