Three great days at the Long Beach GP!
Mrs. Raptor and I just spent three long days at the Long Beach GP (the event's 40th year, my 40th year). Good weather and great racing. We reconnected with lots of old friends and met lots of new ones. We always have the same seats: top row Grandstand 29, just past the Toyota Bridge, across from the pits, very close to the start-finish line, where they're smoking down shoreline Drive. The best seats in the house. Dave, the stadium trucks were great. Man, do they get airborne. We saw a few near endos. I put on lots of sunblock, but still got sunburned.
I parked Big Red right across from (not in) the Corvette Corral, near our seats. There was a constant flow of people with comments like "Beautiful car," incredible," "the best looking car I've ever seen," "simply gorgeous," etc. People snapped pics with their cellphones. Granted, these were car people at the races, but this was almost overwhelming. People would stop my inside the race track and say things like "Is the top still down on that Corvette?"
