IIRC, the I-6 puts out less than 10 HP than the V-8 despite giving away more than a liter of displacement. I don't know the numbers, but I'm sure the V-8 has much more torque. According to Consumer Reports, the I-6 Envoy and Trailblazers have had more reliability issues than the V8 models. Hers doesn't seem to be an exception.
