I always got up during jury selection and said "My dad was a 25-year LAPD and Commander of the Watts Substation when the 65 Watts Riots broke out." The defense attorney always said :"Thank you, Mr. Johnson. You're dismissed." Now I'm over 70 and I can write my own medical excuse without a physician's statement. Being old has its perks. I've never been on a jury. No one wants me!

I served as an alternate a few years ago. They’d be idiots to do it again.
