Tomorrow morning we're off to Big Bear for four nights.
My recurring dream is to get a place in Big Bear with a clear, unbroken 360° view of the horizon and build a high deck with an observatory dome housing a 16" Meade LX200 on a permanent equatorial mount pier and retire and live there. (How's that for a run on sentence?) However, we've never spent a winter in snow country. Maybe snowbird winters in Palm Springs. Just fantasy at this point.

I always see tons of places on the market RB & I know the tree issue is there butt think this IS possible for you two just keep looking…. as for the snow yeah I'm done with it after living in WA so I hear ya.
The Palm Dessert would be a great option and distance for a winter place too
Do you know that Palm Dessert is nicknamed Canada South

I think about 3 out of 5 plates I see EACH time there is Canuckstian
