Tomorrow is our 40th anniversary!
We're celebrating by going to the Tam O'Shanter for prime rib for dinner tonight.

And visiting the Wayne E. Meyer tomorrow.

It's in port at San Pedro for Navy Week. Anne Marie's niece's husband (my sometimes drinking buddy) is a Command Master Chief in the Navy in San Diego. He was very much involved in the launch, sea trials, and deployment of the Wayne E. Meyer (named after recently deceased Admiral Meyer, "the father of the Aegis Missile System"). He was stationed at the Bath, ME shipyard when it was under construction and assigned to it during deployment.
Then lunch tomorrow at Gladstones in Long Beach, looking out at the Queen Mary.

We had a great day. The tour of the Wayne E. Meyer was wonderful! What an amazing ship! Everyone knew Jim: "Master Chief English, what a great guy! The public affairs officer who greeted us just before we boarded the ship said: "He was the first person I spoke with after I was assigned to the ship. I was an officer and he was an enlisted man, but he was the boss. He sat down with me and told me what's what."
We were standing on the deck of the ship, looking at the Vincent Thomas Bridge, wondering why traffic was so backed up on the bridge. That was at 12:30, right when Tony Scott, the director of Top Gun, jumped off the bridge.
