No diseases that I am prepared to discuss on the board Charlie ... that's for sure

But I can tell you that I am now a bona fide permanent Hong Kong resident ... got the card to prove it now

HK resident... So, what does that mean for you, James. Are you definitely making a move over their then?

Seriously, how are things in HK for Brits like yourself, James? Any trouble?

No probs in HK for Brits now Charlie ..... apart from the economy going to pot, there is very little difference for us since the hand over .....

Looks like I could be relocating back there in about 18 months (assuming everything goes as planned) ..... having the residency is a great thing tax wise, since I can be employed out of there and paid out of there (max 15% tax ) and there are other tax benefits available which make it very handy

We are likely to move on from Asia in a few years, but since the residency lasts for 3 years from the date you last left HK, it means I should be able to keep it valid pretty easily and it is always a good fall back position if we decide to head back to Asia ...

Excellent, James. The tax situation sounds great, if you end up there for a year or so. Maybe you'll get to sock some money away. In JP, do you pay taxes to mother England, or to Japan?

You'll have to write a book someday, TJ!

In Japan I pay taxes on part of my salary (the part paid in Japan) to the Japanese government .... I pay taxes on the other part (paid in HK) to the Hong Kong government ..... total tax paid last year ..... 12%
