Well, I've certainly taken note of the British meaning of fanny. I suppose it's a rather rare name then, there in merry olde...
How on Earth did it take on such a *ahem* different meaning on different sides of the pond?

True story here .......
A girl that I used to work with in Hong Kong was called Tse Po King (Tse being the family name for those not used to Chinese names). Well she took the western name of Fannie ......
This meant that her name, if you were going to use the western name should have been Fannie Tse .....
However, my friend who was her boss, always had her down on meeting minutes and corrsepondence as Fannie Po King ......

I know it is cruel, but it was bloody funny !!!!!!
