True story: (George, don't read this.) I was working for ARCO doing marketing research. I was living on the beach in Marina del Rey. My wife to be and her roommate, recently back from a summer in Europe, moved in next door. We had a common bedroon wall (knock, knock) and got quickly, um, acquainted. ARCO decided to move its corporate HQ to New York. They offered my choice of two research positions in New York or I could be a tires, batteries, and accessories salesman in LA (I dont think so). They sent me back to NY for a week to work on a project and to look at the two positions there. I said "I'm going to seriously consider this." I hedged my bet and interviewed with Larwin, a real estate developer, just before I got on the plane. They made me an offer on the spot with a serious salary increase. I told them "I need to look at this NY job before I give you an answer. Give me a week." I left LA, mid December, 85

I think he might not like the sound of that, either
