Default we have joined the dark side.

so my wife's niece turned 16 in a month.
my wife drives a Corolla. the niece has her eyes on this car for the past year.
so today the wife decided that we shall give the car to her niece. We went car shopping today.
got a '10 Lexus RX350.
I know that I will eventually have a sedan, possibly a minivan, but I never thought the day would come that I have an SUV in my driveway.. But I guess women have made men done much crazier things.
pics to come soon.

one interesting note today.
while visiting the dealership, I saw an 08 Porsche 911turbo vert. I inquired about the price (winder sticker was "please contact our sales associate"). The salesman said $100K. I said "where to I sign". 15min later the sale manager came and talked to me and said the salesman was mistaken. The car was actually $122K and that he could not honor the $100K price quote.
for that 15minutes I was the happiest person in that showroom.

RXs are nice..I was at the dealership recently inquiring about an IS-F and saw them sitting in the lot...

although the '08 Turbo would have been a bit quicker than an RX... and um, what do you trade in at the Lexus dealership for an '08 911?

I think the previous owner had some recession of his own. Don't know. Part of the negotiation was me wanting to talk to the previous owner to find out the history of the car. The dealer absolutely refused. I would have probably agreed to a higher price if I had more time to research this particular car.
if I had gotten the 911, the S2000 would have to go though.

If this is the hardest compromise you have to make with her, you're marriage is destined to survive.

I too probably would've been jumping for joy at that initial quote. Oh well. Maybe next time.
