Well, looks like I am going to apply for a new passport while I am in Hong Kong, they should be able to issue me one within 3 days, which will be machine readable, which means I don't need a visa ...... just did not actually seem possible to get one issued by the US Embassy in time .....
I still can't believe that it works out easier for me to fly to another country to get a new passort issued than it is to get a tourist visa issued by the US Embassy ....... even Vietnam and Bangladesh can get me a visa issued in about 2-3 days ....
God, I hope I have stopped ranting about this by next month ....

james you better friggin be going me and barney were talking about it over the weekend......if you dont go then we are gonna have to fly out there and sneak you back into the us....i am NOT gettin on a plane to go to vegas and you NOT be there
