Default WestSideBilly does something

I took a vacation. I know I do that all the time, but this was different.

Air travel:
7107 miles.
LAX-PVR-MEX-JFK(LGA)-MKE-MSP-SEA-LAX
Total flight delays: ~5 hours (most of it LGA-MKE)
Planes flown: 737, 737, 787, E170, 757, 737, 737 (No Airbus! )

Stop 1: Puerto Vallarta (65 hours)
Stop 2: Mexico City (43 hours)
Stop 3: NYC (5 hours)
Stop 4: Milwaukee/Lake Geneva (35 hours)
Stop 5: Seattle (17 hours)

Highlights:
(1) Sitting on the beach for 2 days, hanging out with my brother.
(2) Community outreach program organized by a couple ex-Sounders players with a youth organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for teaching underprivileged (and that's by Mexico City standards... VERY poor, some homeless) kids about life. Most will never play high level soccer but they all seem to learn a bit. Lot of fun.
(2) Went to a Sounders game vs Club America at Estadio Azteca. Sounders lost After the game, we were escorted out of the stadium by a group of about 50 riot police, then loaded onto police buses, and bused across town... to our post-match bar.
(2) At the end of the night, ran into a group of Club America supporters. A couple of them heckled us in perfect English, and when we stopped to talk I found out some of the group were from Sheboygan, WI (about 50 miles from where I grew up). Their cousin walked over and wanted to trade jerseys, I didn't really want to (it was my favorite Sounders jersey, in exchange for an ugly 80s CA jersey with the name of a player who never actually wore that specific jersey), but after their grandmother intervened with tequila figured it was best to make the trade. Many laughs/pictures later, we left.

(2) Went to the Frida Kahlo "Casa Azul" Museum.
(2) Went to the Xochimilco Chinampas.
(2) Went to the Torre Latinoamericana.
(3) Had lunch with s2ko and another friend from the Evo forum.
(3) Got to experience the suck that is LaGuardia.
(4) Hung out with my high school friends.
(5) Went to the Sounders home opener. They lost.

And now I'm back at work, exhausted beyond belief.

I didn't know a lot about her going in. The museum is organized well in that you start in the shallow end (seeing some of her more well known works and themes) and then you work into her life and all the chaos and whatnot. The last couple rooms were her bedrooms where she spent the latter portion of her life. Also there was a temporary display of some of her clothing, which was really cool in showing the lengths she went to appear "normal".

The house itself was pretty, not surprisingly. The courtyard area was probably a very peaceful place (it's a crisscross of walkways now to support the museum).

Overall worth a visit if you're ever in Mexico City.
