[hanging_head_in_shame]I must admit that Powerpoint was the software of choice[/hanging_head_in_shame]
Powerpoint is awesome. Probably the best thing Microsoft has put out that's office-related. I could do without all the animation folks use, but damned if it isn't the easiest thing in the world to put a slide show together.
for the Microsofties on that one.

the thing that I like about powerpoint is that it is easy to use and I can make the presentation myself and not have to get a one of the secretaries to do it. this means that I can makes changes up until the lasyt minute, and prepare the slides on the flight over ....
Never one to leave things till the last minute me

Yeah, neither am I, James!
It's great. You can import just about anything. I'll get you can snag some smileys too and throw 'em into a slide. Might have to do that for my next presentation.
Jack, wish I could speak intelligently about user level apps stuff. I'm a systems guy. I'll tell you that Microsoft has done a pretty reasonable job with their latest OS platforms. You may be right about the proprietary nature of .NET stuff, but that might not matter when all is said and done. Microsoft is omnipresent. (they're probably reading our posts!

I'm no UI expert either, but I'm thinking if they can make an application with such a rich set of features seem so easy to use, they must be doing something right
As for proprietary technology, I think my main worry is being too reliant on a single vendor.
They have definitely come a long way with their latest OS platforms (don't know about XP, but I'm very happy with Win2K).

I'm actually certified in a lot of Microsoft stuff and I'll be finishing another big one probably the beginning of next year. They make pretty good products. The OSs on both desktops and servers are great.
It's their ethics and licensing programs the make me hate them!
