What do you hate??
A strange thing that they do here now is give you "price zones" rather than specific prices .... unless you really go in and start talking about what you want .....
"price zone" for the S is 3.4 -> 4.1 million (US$29k -> 35k) plus tax (around 17% !!) so total price for the basis model no extras US$34k
"price zone" for the Z is 3 -> 3.75 million (US$25.5k -> 32k) plus tax so total price for the basic model no extras US$30k
Not a lot to choose between them really.
(There is no "dealer mark up" to be dealt with in Japan
)

That's really interesting, James. I was under the impression that it was a lot more expensive to purchase in Japan than in US. I think the issue for the Japanese might be the cost of garaging and tolls/gas, etc... What do you think?
Anyway, the Z is interesting, f'r sure, but it ain't no ragtop. What's the point?

(I have edited that last post because of calculation errors !)
I used to have to rent a separate parking space until I moved, which cost me US$420 per month !!!!!
tolls can add up quickly on a long trip, and petrol (
) is much more expensive here than the US (though cheaper than England still !!!) so yes, I think those costs certianly make motoring more expensive. I also think that the exchange rate is working in our favour at the moment, Y117/US$, it was Y105/US$ when I came over two years ago, which makes quite a difference to the $ price of the cars .....

Fair enough, James, fair enough... Thanks for explaining that. It seemed ludicrous to me that Japanese cars would be cheaper in US dollars than in home market Yen... But, what you're saying makes total sense.
17% tax :eek87: There's a serious discrepancy for ya'. Even here in Taxachusetts, it's only 5% on a purchase.
Dohmo arigato!
