I read part 2 and 3 in about a day or two each, and the whole trilogy was excellent.

Another recommendation for those that like fantasy genre: the Name of the Wind. I'm waiting on the sequel at the library.

I still haven't picked up the sequel to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... need to get on that.

s2ko 04-20-2011 11:53 AM

I read a lot during my commute. 1 1/2 hours 2 x a day 5 days a week. That's the nice thing about taking the train is that I get time to read.

I finished the two books following the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Both very good - the 3rd especially was tough to put down. I'm going to watch the two swedish films soon, both are on Netflix instant.

Next up is the sequel to the Name of the Wind, the Wise Man's Fear. I got it from the library but haven't started it yet. Soon!

 I finally got that book a couple months ago. Really want to read it because the character Howard is apparently based on Frank Lloyd Wright (big fan here - going to see another one of his houses on Wednesday!)

Almost finished Rebel Daughter by Doris Anderson. Definitely a good read if you have any interest in the Canadian publishing world. Also reading a book of short stories, What's Left Us. Not really loving it. I'm about to start Remembering Rapture by Bell Hooks. Really looking forward to that one.

11/22/63 -- By Steven King. It's about a guy in 2011 who finds a portal to 1958. He goes back in time and lives for 5 years to try to stop the Kennedy assination. It's REALLY good so far. It's fairly long, and I'm only about 1/2 way through it.

It really sucks. :thumbdn: But I realllllly don't like the idea of not finishing a book, so I'll likely finish it tonight or tomorrow. Can't decide on the next book: Wicked, a book about the women in FLW's life or a bio of Glenn Gould.

So much for that plan. I've focused more on the Castaneda book and don't even know where the book about borderline is. :egads: I'm officially out of the vibe for Wicked, so whenever I get around to finishing those other two, I'll pick something else from my large selection of unread books!

Gatsbee13 03-16-2012 01:06 PM

anybody use an e-reader? i havent got one yet, but some reviews for books state that the e-reader version is not a good conversion due to small charts and the like.. i dont know. i still like having the physical book.

ruexp67 03-23-2012 02:32 AM

I LOVE using a Kindle to read books. I don't read many books with pictures and charts, but they don't work well on the Kindle. (Not terrible, but not great either.)

It's great to have a lot of books with you all at once so you can read whatever strikes your interest at the moment.

Since it's new to me, I've been reading on the iPad a little too (using the Kindle app.) It's nice, and I have to believe it would handle charts and graphics better.

That said, I am STILL reading Steven King's 11/22/63. I had few months where I just couldn't focus enough to read anything. I'm back at it now, but still only about 60% through it.

shareall 03-23-2012 06:11 AM
