What are You Reading Right Now?

Hi!

I know some of you read a lot and I want to know what you're reading! :geek:

As of right now, I just finsihed Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. Pretty good book! I totally recommend the Sookie Stackhouse series

I'm looking for my next book, I'm thinking about reading another Chuck Palahniuk book since I liked Survivor :D

Read Choke. It was really, really good.

I'm reading Rant right now, and while it is... interesting... I'm not enjoying it as much as I did Lullaby, Choke, and Survivor. One of these days I'm going to read Fight Club too but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

Oh and he has a new book that just came out called Tell-All which I have not read yet but I have sitting at home. I'll let you know how it is

Tell me more - I'm too lazy to search it. :p

I just finished reading "The End of the Alphabet" by C.S. Richardson. It's a quick, decent read about this guy who finds out he's going to die...And I'll leave it at that. :)

Now I'm on to "Love is a Mix Tape" by Rob Sheffield. I'm only about 30 pages into it and even though it will surely get me all teary at some point, I've actually laughed out loud a few times. If you're not old enough to have made mixed tapes, you might not be familiar with some of the music references, but so far it's enjoyable.

I am reading "Doctor Dealer" by Mark Bowden. Bowden is most famous for writing Black Hawk Down, which is awesome. Also higly reccomended Bowden fare is "Guests of the Ayatollah" about the 1979-1981 Iranian Hostage Crisis.

I am also reading a CCNA study guide, Exchange 2010 courseware, Through the Looking Glass and 2 different Poker books.

I really do like my kindle a LOT.

LESISMOR 05-20-2010 09:32 AM

Read a lot of Jodi Picoult's books lately, them, she's great w/controversial topics and different writing styles.

Currently trying to get through "Out of My Mind" by Catherine Sampson.

Monica...you should search my Amazon Wish list (Cher's too I bet)...I think we both have extensive lists of good reads!!

Jodi Picoult seems to be all the rage, but I haven't been really drawn to many of her stories. :thinker:

I currently have 139 items on my wish list, 101 of which are books. Plus I have about 2 dozen books in my "to read" pile. :egads:

LESISMOR 05-24-2010 09:35 AM

I have a ton at home still to read, but can't help it, always buying new books!! :egads:

It's an addiction, let's start a club

Just borrowed from the library "The Midnight House" by Alex Berenson. It's an espionage/action type of book. His first book "The Faithful Spy" was good and actually kind of scary.

Ooo I read Nineteen Minutes a while ago and have just got My Sister's Keeper out from the library after watching the film and blubbing tons and tons and tons!

I'm reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo at the mo but just finished a book called The Wind From the East by Almudena Grandes which was really good. ITtwas translated from Spanish and I really enjoyed reading something in a different style from anything I've read before.

Another book I really loved and would recommend was Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.

I'm such a book geek. I used to buy new books all the time (more than shoes or clothes) but I joined the local library recently and now I'm working my way through all the books there instead. I get really giddy and excitable every time I go in :D

I used to be the same! There are still several unread books in my collection, but once I make it through those, I'll be taking advantage of the library as well.

I *knew* there was a quick read I wanted to recommend. The Cellist of Sarajevo. Forget who wrote it, but it's based on a true story and from what I recall, I quite enjoyed it.

shareall 06-14-2010 07:02 AM

IIRC the actual cellist was pissed about the book...but I can't remember the details. Maybe I'll do some searching. :D

ruexp67 06-14-2010 07:14 AM

I am reading Through the Looking Glass. I wanted to read it before watching the Alice in Wonderland movie. I have a STRONG suspicion that the movie will be NOTHING like the books. :(

:iagree:

I've read this and enjoyed it tho my other half ruined the end by talking at me while I was trying to finish it

I'm reading The Girl on the Landing now by Paul Torday. It's, um, quirky. I'll see how it goes...
