What kind of stuff are you and the FP interested in? Natural stuff? Cities?
If you're interested in the natural stuff, I highly recommend a roadtrip through the various national parks (Mount St. Helen, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Bryce etc).
Otherwise, it depends on the kind of stuff you like to do in cities.
