Do you ever drive your car? You're far more likely to get in an accident in the Bay Area than you would be driving across I10 or I40. The roads are generally smooth outside of the city.

umm... a "chip"? I don't mind a chip... I get that all the time driving on the freeways here in Cali. BUT I am concerned about unknown roads - potholes and grossly uneven road surfaces... and what would happen if I were to get a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere? Or get into an accident?
You wouldn't want to drive in the Northeast.

BTW, I won't say I'm going to WTD this year. . . yet.

yeah I've been getting quotes from OAK to TYS for around $500
You might check flying out of SJC, it's a bit cheaper, but still quite pricey. I thought I saw $415.

I do drive my car... and I've had my share of potholes and bent rims and the like. I really don't want to deal with that potential hassle, especially so far from home.

Plus, the driving three days is also pretty daunting. I would like to save up that time for something more pleasurable, like going to Hawaii.

Trust me, I know all about that drive. I drove from Knoxville to LA (and eventually up to the Bay) over the course of a week (with a weekend stay in San Antonio) and it was boring as shit. Having a +1 would make it fun, but getting 8-9 days worth of stuff for 2 people in the car might be hard.

On I-10, it might be better than having to drive.
