anyone have a code reader?
Hey, I have had my check engine light on for a bit and gone over all the basics (gas cap, oil, etc). The car feels fine, but not sure why the light is still on. It has now been on longer than you'd normally give the gas cap problem, so I was curious if anyone had one of the diagnostic tools and wouldn't mind me driving over to throw it in before I go somewhere where they will drain my wallet to find out its just a misfire or something. Thanks!
edit: misfire as in faulty throwing of the light. Forgot it could imply other things in this scenario.

Did you try jumping the OBDII port pins and reading the blinks? http://www.k-series.com/tech_document.php?id=37 I am home tonight if you want help with this.
Autozone does free readings I believe, or if they aren't close by my walmart read my wife's for us for free (their not really suppose to do it at all), just ask nicely. I haven't tried my OBDII scanner interface with my new netbook yet so I'm not sure if I can get it to work right away, but I'll give it a shot when I get home (though I don't have any codes on my car right now to test with.... wait nvm I know how to throw a code safely
).
).
Yeah it just disappeared this morning after 5 days of constant driving, haha. I think it respond to threats, but oh well guess it was no big deal like I thought though. If it comes on again, I'll take someone up on the offer though.
I'll bring some brews for whoever will entertain.
