Default can any one help me install a soft top?

hello delval,

i got my glass soft top today! i have instructions that are veg at best. i have some instructions from this site as well.

i'm gonna give this a go but thought i'd ask if anyone wanted to help. I'll pay for the gas and pick up so beer of your choice ( if you drink ). also, food is on me.

i even used this as an excuse to get my wife to let me buy a new craftsman 2 tier tool chest and load it with new tools! I've got everything we need to install it.

i'm in Lebanon pa right off of the PA turnpike.

let me know! thanks!

matt

You got the Robins top right?

So basically we have to cut your old canvas top and just reattach the new one to it.

You still basically have to remove the frame I think, and all the interior pieces.

I did two softops in the last two weeks and my hands are still all cut up from it. I don't think i would do another one for any less than 100$. Its a 5 hour job. Ill think about this one, I might have work sunday.

Its a 5 hour job for a complete frame swap with top already attached, but a new top on an old frame takes in the neighborhood of 9-10 hours.

Check out this thread, it walks you through the entire process of installing a robbins top on an 00-01 frame. There's lots of pics too. Only thing is this walkthrough has you just cut your current top off. If you're not planning on doing anything with it this should help you.

thanks. i already cut off my old top since its trashed. i'll have the interior all apart tonight, just want someone that has actually put the new top on before to lend a hand.

i'll be doing this in my garage..... i always have a episode of family guy or south park on the tv in the garage to help keep me from getting to pissed off if something isn't going right so i should be good.

Ebersole wouldn't install a new top, they wanted to sub it out. Plus the price was rediculous. 1160 for a plastic top and something like 600-800 install qoute... i got my robbins glass top brand new for $500.

If anyone cares to stop over that would be great. Francesco, let me know if you are feeling up to it. I'm sure i can compensate you for your time.

yea they sub it out to Regal upholestry down the street, and frankly I would rather have than the hacks at Ebersole...

I got the Honda rep to cover 60% of my bill, so it comes out to around $581 installed. Not too bad, but easier than doing it myself!

Took me me almost 15 hours, probably because I'm an idiot. Good luck though, it's a worthwhile endeavor. And I wouldn't recommend boozing during the install, only after
