Default Colder Weather...

Hey all,

It's been getting warmer lately, and I haven't had the top down since Summer ended. I'm starting to get anxious with weather in the 50's and 60's. What's the lowest temperature you've had the top down in with the rear plastic window. I know the manual suggests keeping it up unless it's 55+ out, but I've heard of some people doing fine with it down in 40 degree weather. I'm heading up to NY Wednesday night around 9, the low is supposed to be around 58ish, but I'm scared of busting the plastic window since I'm not ready to buy a hardtop, or buy a glass top. So, what do you think, should I man up and roll top down? Haha.

What's the lowest temperature you've had the top down in? I'm unsure how a 2+ hour drive with it down will turn out.

-Matt.

As long as its not freezing your ok.

I have had my top down when it was well under 20 degrees, but that was when I was hardcore softtop.

28, some people like me have had good luck others havent and their top has cracked so i guess its a case by case scenerio.

more people have put it down in cold weather and havent had it crack then peple who have had it crack put it that way

but if you put your hand on the plastic part before you put the top down and it feel ice ice cold and "brittle" shall i say i wouldnt put it down.

I would think A LOT of it has to do with how well maintained your window is /was.

Does it sit in the sun all day (UV deterioration), how clean do you keep it, do yuu condition it..........

Top up, drive, warm the cabin, pray, drop the top .....................

- somewhat -

2 flaws though, first warming and then putting it down is a great idea, only problem is putting it back up after it gets cold again.

Other thing is my rear window was not taken care of very well before I got it (scratched to hell, hazy, green stains) and I am still trying to find a polish conditioner for plastic windows (any suggestions? pep-boys didn't have any when I went this weekend). However I have still been able to put my top down in the high-20's without a problem, yet.

As far as 50 degree weather, I'd definitely say go for it. Even mid-high 40's shouldn't be a problem at all, but my word isn't final. Ask yourself "Do you feel lucky?"

My plastic rear window cracked while putting the top up when it was 60 deg out.

YMMV.
