Default Convoy to Outer Banks Run

If you're signed up for Airgate's Outer Banks Run on March 22-23 and aren't aware, we've organized a convoy to head down to North Carolina. We've planned a scenic route that will keep us off the interstates south of Richmond. So far, the following have indicated that they'll be in the convoy:

Rick Hesel
PA S2K
agS2K
VA S2K
godreau2029
w1ngman
DaveZ
dkhl
DigitalMan

I know there are others signed up for the OBR who have not inidicated whether they can join the convoy. If you can join us, here's a link to the thread:

Rick-
What location and time would you propose to rendez-vous on that Friday? It would be great to join the group, if it's not too early.

Jerry,

Given that we'll be heading south into the thick of rush hour traffic around DC, I think we should leave around 7:30. We might be able to stretch that to 7:45. I'll be returning from a trip to Mexico late the night before, so getting up Friday morning is going to be painful no matter what time it is.

The best place to meet would be the Exxon station at the intersection of Falls and Joppa Roads, at Greenspring Station. That way we can hop right on the beltway.

We may want to go down 295, since it's a shorter and usually faster way to get around DC than the I-95 route.

Rick-

Since we will be coming South on I-95, would it make more sense to meet around there at a gas station...perhaps heading South and over the Francis Scott Key Bridge? I always like that route and it might (?) avoid some traffic...appears to get to the I-295 cutoff more quickly. That course would save US a little time. I figure we could leave here around 6 am and get there at 7:30~. In fact, we could meet right before the FS Key bridge...I think there's a toll booth there. What do you think?

Jerry,

If the Key Bridge will work better for you coming south, great. but it will not be a good place to meet, since it takes me out of the way quite a bit. I suggest we meet somewhere down 295 south of where you will get on off 695. I'm headed down 295 tomorrow to go to the airport, so I'll scout a place where we can rendezvous.

Rick- Thanks...will wait to hear what you find. Look like there is an exit ~1.2 miles before the BWI exit from 295....Sachs Road? Jerry

Jerry,

We should plan to meet at the bottom of the off ramp for West Nursery Road, which is the first exit off 295 after you 695 and the exit right before the I-195 connection to the airport. We should plan to meet there at 7:45 AM.

Sounds like a good plan. We can confirm this closer to the date, but before you leave for your trip.
