Default Death Light

This is just to document my experiance and or be informative for anyone else.

Saturday night driving home from the city I pull off 95 and as I'm rolling to a stop at idle I notice my oil light starts flickering, I imidiatly shut off the car and throw the hazards on. I check everything under the hood and everything seems fine; oil fitler's on tight oil level at full no leaks from anywhere. Start the car back up and it still flickers until a solid red glow at idle anything above idle/1k rpms the light goes away so I drove her home. Next morning start her up no light so I go about my business. Mid day the flickering starts back up (guessing because the car and oil got fully up to temp.

Took my dads car to work this morning did not want to risk driving her on my 80mile daily commute. After work I'm going to grab the oil presure gauge/kit from my brother inlaw and see what's going on with her.

Considering everyhting looks alright I'm fairly certain my main bearings are on their way out and thats whats causing the loss in pressure. 154k on the early f20 motor have had the motor since 69k never ran it low on oil never money shifted always used synthetic 10w30.

I will report back tonight with the oil psi numbers.

So yea oil psi at idle when fully warm is 7psi instead of the 34 that it should be. Going to crack her open and see if I can save it by changing the oil pump and or bearings.

I think it might be more cost effective if I just swap another motor in considering I can do it myself rather than paying for parts and labor to potentialy fix a 150k mile motor. Going to try and source a f20 or 04-05 f22.

Looks like I am out for the remainder of the season :/

In the mean time going to insure my moms civic and just drive that while I serch and save.

Will report back with any new info.

p.s. if anyone comes across any leads on a motor dont hesitate to pm me or txt me at 267 625 3957.
